POSITION DESCRIPTION: Manage the Statewide 511 Advanced Traveler Information program. Specific duties include: Chairing the Florida 511 working group meeting, Providing engineering oversight for the deployment of the statewide 511 traveler information system, Reviewing 511 system status at bi-weekly project management meetings, developing third party data sources, and providing input to the operations and maintenance of current 511 system.
Manages the statewide Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) Deployment program. Specific duties include: Working with the Districts to develop projects to deploy Transportation Systems Management and Operations (TSM&O) strategies, Manage the statewide TSM&O budget, Allocate funds to support ITS deployment and TSM&O strategies to include operations and equipment replacement, provide information to update Schedule "B" of the Work Program instructions. Provide input to the Transportation Commission regarding the Commission's Annual report, and maintain the Statewide TSM&O Cost Feasible Plan.
Oversees the 511 system marketing program. Specific duties include: Reviewing and approving as appropriate marketing plans and materials, and reviewing project status at bi-weekly PM meetings, as needed. Administers and provides engineering decisions for the work of the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) Transportation Systems Management and Operations General Consultant (TSM&OGC).
Administers the TSM&OGC contract. Directs the TSM&OGC personnel on a daily basis to provide assistance to the Central Office and FDOT Districts on matters related to the development and deployment of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) and TSM&O strategies.
Assist in the development and updating of the Standard Specifications as the relate to the deployment of ITS. Signs and seals ITS related documents as required.
Represent the FDOT as members of the I-95 Corridor Coalition's Traveler Information Systems Program Track Committee (TISPTC) and the Vehicle Probe Project (VPP) Agency Project Team. Specific duties are to provide input to further the mission of making traveler information available to the public.
Attend TSM&O related meetings, symposia, conferences, workshops from time to time to stay abreast of advancements in the field of ITS and TSM&O.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of Traffic engineering principles and practices; Knowledge of management principles and practices; Knowledge of contract development and monitoring; Skilled in effective oral communications; Skilled in effective written communication; Skilled in interpreting and disseminating traffic engineering related data; Skilled in use of personal computers and ability to use Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Access & Outlook); Ability to collect, analyze, and interpret engineering data; Ability to manage workload to produce on-time resolutions to problems; Ability to lead, manage and work with diverse groups of people; Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships;
REQUIRED LICENSURE/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION: Registered Professional Engineer in accordance with Chapter 471, Florida Statutes.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Registration as a Professional Engineer in accordance with Florida Statute 471 and two years of post-registration experience.
