Minimum Qualification

B.S., Civil Engineering degree

  • Professional engineer registered with the Florida State Board of Professional Engineers

  • At least 3 years of post-registration experience in the technical skill area:

  • Experience involving real-time traffic control systems, system installation and testing, and knowledge of Construction Engineering Inspection (CEI) requirements for intelligent transportation construction projects

  • Documented experience involving electronic engineering of system hardware, digital system design, specifications, and utilization

  • Documented experience in software development, specifically with intelligent transportation systems applications, and computer science (real-time process control software systems, including real-time executive Input/Output (I/O) processing and priority interrupt-based processing.

  • The experience must also involve system software testing and debugging, data base software, graphical user interfaces, system documentation, and training of operations personnel.

  • The experience must involve electrical engineering of power and communications, including power distribution, standby power supply, lightning protection, hardware interconnect, fiber optic networks, wireless communications networks, local area networks, wide area networks, Internet communications, data recording, data transmission, modulating, and multiplexing techniques collection of traffic data of a statistical nature that can be used in the Department's databases such as the Rail-Highway Crossing Inventory (RHCI), Traffic Characteristics Inventory (TCI), and Roadway Characteristics Inventory (RCI), or used to support other Department activities such as highway design

  • Experience as a Project Manager with strong knowledge of developing and managing scope, schedule, and budget

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and solve problems

  • Able to work independently, and deliver high quality work

  • Excellent communication and technical development skills

  • Able to work with Microsoft Office, mainly Word, Excel and Power Point

  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct according to the company’s policies and procedures

  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability by the company health, safe, drug/alcohol and harassment policies.

  • Experience with complete plans, specs, and estimate package

  • Experience with FDOT projects

  • Able to work with Weigh-in-motion systems will be considering an advantage

Duties

Job Description:

DESIGN:

  • Support CIP Planning including project processes, budgets and schedules

  • Provide assistance to project sponsor as directed

About You

Minimum Qualifications:  A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management or highly related field with five (5) years of construction and/or project management experience.  A Master’s Degree in one of the above-mentioned fields can substitute for one year of required experience.  Project experience can substitute for the required degree on a year-for-year basis.

Preferred Qualifications:  Active Architect License in the State of Florida, active LEED AP or AP with specialty, active PMP certification.

This job opportunity provides responsible supervisory and professional level office and field work for an engineering specialty area. The primary function is to oversee internal transportation design. Necessary Special Requirements:

Must possess a valid Class E State driver’s license. Must possess registration as a licensed professional engineer at the time of application. Incumbent must attain a registration as a licensed professional engineer in the State of Florida within one year from date of employment.

Salary Range

$27.03 to $62.08/hourly. Hiring rate generally will not exceed $56.79/hour
