Transportation Engineer

The successful candidate will be on-site and dedicate their passion for Connected Autonomous Vehicle to Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT). You will be on-site, working with the other professionals with the passion of CAV in the Tallahassee Florida offices.

You will have:

  • 5+ years of combined experience in traffic, ITS, connected vehicles, and traffic safety

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or relevant field

  • EI License

  • Project Management experience, preferably in programs and budget management 

  • Experience with the project life cycle from project planning to implementation

  • Familiarity with national standards related to CAV such as USDOT RSU, SAE, IEEE, NTCIP, ARC-IT, etc. 

  • Familiar with MS Project and work planning process

  • Master's degree in Engineering or relevant field

  • PE preferred

  • PTOE and CVP certifications

Manage connected and autonomous vehicle assignments (examples include SPaT, autonomous transit micro-shuttles, transit and freight signal priority projects, etc.) 

Assist with the development of policies and governance with a goal to develop and communicate an institutionalized framework for planning, designing, and deploying CAV in Florida to maximize safety, mobility and economic development (SME) benefits.

Assist with the identification of funding opportunities for implementation,  operations, and maintenance. Develop grant applications for discretionary funding opportunities.

Identify education and outreach program objectives with a goal to create awareness of CAV deployments, and develop the CAV workforce in Florida.

Develop industry outreach to implement SME outcome-based CAV technologies through active partnerships with industry, universities, and stakeholders.

Identify and develop technical requirements and specifications to create a framework for CAV infrastructure preparedness including software and hardware upgrades and new installations.

Establish a platform for CAV implementation readiness in terms of technology  implementation, infrastructure improvements and gaps identification.

Assist with full-scale CAV deployment and implementation using the most relevant CAV applications that have the potential to achieve the SME benefits.

Develop and review RFIs for CAV projects
