Job Title: Multimodal Transportation Planner

Job Description : The Multimodal Transportation Planner is a professional and technical position, responsible for planning and coordinating the County's motorized and non-motorized transportation programs, plans, and activities. Applies multimodal methods to performing transportation planning related duties, including preparing and reviewing traffic studies for land development projects consistent with applicable State and County standards. Performs research related to mobility and transportation. Perform traffic analysis, transportation studies, and mobility studies, GIS data analysis, prepare reports and present results using data current visualization techniques under a safe, efficient, effective, equitable, and sustainable perspective. Transportation network analysis using pertinent software applications such as ArcGIS, R, FSUTMS (Cube Voyager, TransCAD, VISSUM), Highway Capacity Software, and Synchro Studio.

Requirements: Knowledge of the principles, practices, and objectives of multimodal transportation planning, including the analysis of data and preparation of planning reports and studies. Knowledge of current literature, trends, and developments in vehicular, bicycle/pedestrian, multimodal, environmental, and urban/regional transportation planning. Experience preparing and submitting grant applications. Prior experience with GIS data analysis, transportation impact analysis, mobility simulations, planning/evaluation of long range transportation needs, and examining, designing, planning , and managing multimodal transportation systems are highly desired. Bachelor's degree in a field of engineering or science with applicability to transportation planning or traffic engineering, such as Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, Geography, or Urban & Regional Planning. Minimum of three years professional experience in transportation planning. Knowledge of principles and practices of transportation planning, traffic analysis, and travel demand modeling is highly recommended. Must be able to understand and prepare input data for simulation models, analyze model output, and clearly communicate results with technical audience and general public. Valid driver's license with valid Florida driver's license within 30 days of hire.
