Minimum Training & Experience

Possession of a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field and five years of professional work experience in the area of engineering to which the position is assigned.

Necessary Special Requirements

Possession of registration as a licensed professional engineer (PE) at the time of application.  Incumbent must attain a registration as a licensed professional engineer in the State of Florida within one year from date of employment.

Underground Utilities and Public Infrastructure is a progressive organization operating water, wastewater, stormwater, public works and transportation infrastructure to serve Florida's Capital city.

This position is a responsible supervisory and professional level office and field work of an engineering specialty area.   • ITS Engineer will be responsible for integrating various data streams and configuring databases to organize and archive data. This position will also assist in managing the fiber-optic traffic signal communications network, CCTV system, and other ITS systems.

  • Customization of existing systems to leverage data for traffic engineering purposes.

  • Dashboard development for reporting/tracking ITS assets; GIS-based asset management;

  • Developing Specifications for the implementation of new systems;

  • Responsible for preparation and completion of discipline engineering designs that are responsive to project needs.

  • Coordinates the preparation of design details, plans, and drawings within assigned task areas.

  • Coordinates design development and/or assists in providing technical direction to the scope of projects; provide senior-level technical expertise on projects associated with conceptual engineering, detailed engineering designs, and preparation of contracts for construction.

  • Investigative hand and computer-based analyses in support of assigned design tasks.

  • Reviews and checks engineering work completed by others.

  • Work closely with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

  • PE/PTOE/PMP

  • Florida project management experience

  • Proficient with MS Excel, Tableau, and other reporting software

  • Ability to provide supervision to the staff

  • Ability to identify and develop work with the client
