Like all volunteer organizations, the heart of ITS Florida is its members who serve on various committees.  There are numerous opportunities, in addition to serving on the Board, where you can contribute.  Each has a role in how we disseminate information and manage the business of our association.

The ITS Florida Board of Directors is elected by the members annually. They meet monthly either in person or by teleconference.  The eleven-member Board represents the public sector, the private sector, and academia.  The Board provides policy, governance, and operational leadership to the society  Directors at Large serve two-year terms; Officers serve one-year terms.

The Outreach Committee is responsible for providing information about our organization to our members and to others.  The Outreach Committee includes the teams that manage the website; publicize the society's work through FDOT's Disseminator; brief legislators, transportation leaders, MPO's, and local governments about ITS; offer scholarships each year to students of member universities; annual exhibition at ITSA; and recognize people and projects with Awards where there have been significant contributions made to ITS in Florida.

The Professional Capacity Building Committee develops training that our members can attend to enhance their professional development.  The Professional Capacity Building (PCB) Committee develops partnerships to develop and deliver courses; and administers the courses for members' (and non-members') employees.

The Events Committee is responsible for planning conferences and meetings to provide a forum for members to share expertise and ideas with other professionals and peers.  The Events Committee plans the very successful biennial Transpo2010 ITS Conference, and other members' networking events.  The Events Committee maintains a master calendar of ITS events in Florida and elsewhere of interest.

The ITS Florida Advisory Council is our link to the FDOT, giving us a unique opportunity to provide guidance and assistance to the FDOT's ITS office. The Advisory Council provides formal ITS community advice to the Florida Department of Transportation's ITS Program.  The Council is comprised of the ITS Florida officers and Executive Director. The Council "reports" to representatives of FDOT, and even the Florida Transportation Commission.

The Management Committee reviews programs and projects of the society in the context of ITS Florida mission and vision. The Management Committee is the group of officers that manages our organization.  They review the quarterly financial reports for the society, develop the annual budget, and review governance issues on behalf of the Board.
